This district needs to get its fair share of the federal assistance and tax dollars. I am creating my DAY ONE AGENDA. This reflects the urgency of our situation and my commitment to our district. The Biden Administration passed bold and historic legislation that can change our country for the better. For our district to benefit, we must connect resources to residents. We need to bring the money, taxpayer dollars, back to our community. Day One, I will appoint a staff member whose sole job is to find federal funds and grants, matching them with local government, schools, nonprofits, and businesses. This staff member will be located here in beautiful San Gabriel Valley. Environment / Climate Change. As a dedicated environmentalist who has demonstrated a deep commitment to preserving open spaces, protecting water and air quality, and advocating for sustainable policies as past chair of the LA Regional Water Quality Control Board, co-creator of HR7279, and environmental chair of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG). I will focus on Climate Change legislation by Creating more protected open spaces and including fire protection plans and policies. Ensuring clean, abundant water by bringing water infrastructure and storage projects Ensuring movement towards a renewable energy portfolio by assisting growth in solar, wind, and non-fossil fuel sources, and investing in the infrastructure needed for success. Provide opportunities for local governments, businesses, and residents to upgrade their facilities, buildings, and homes, to more environmentally healthy and cost-efficient structures. Legislation and resources towards the infrastructure needed for EV Charging stations, mass transit, investment in solar and wind, and finally in research and development. Quality of Life for San Gabriel Creating more jobs through investments in infrastructure and technology Ensuring San Gabriel Valley has highspeed internet/broadband. Supporting a women?s right to choose. Fighting for legal, accessible, and affordable reproductive healthcare to anyone regardless of age or immigration status. Opposing anti-choice legislation such as waiting periods, undue burdensome requirements on doctors, and limits on medical abortions. Supporting LGBTQIA rights including the right to marriage, gender medical care, and equality in career/job, and housing. Strengthening our education system making education more accessible by Supporting affordable tuition rates and scholarship programs Fully funding Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) Comprehensive student services to remove barriers to education for economically disadvantaged students. Supporting student loan forgiveness and programs that hold predatory student lending programs accountable with stronger oversight and a transparent loan process. Increasing workforce education at K-12 and community colleges. Improving our Immigration Programs by Supporting full and comprehensive immigration reform Increasing Immigration Judges and support staff Support and codifying DACA Support for a path for citizenship Exploring initiatives with other countries to bolster local economies and create job opportunities, allowing individuals to find work in their homeland. Funding can be sought through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, CHIPS Act, and reviewing current funding to allow for new and expanded programs.
